Nestor D. Blyznak, M.D.
Dr. Blyznak earned his medical degree with honors from NYU School of Medicine in 1977. He completed residency training at SUNY-Stony Brook and NYU Medical Center before completing a sports medicine fellowship at the University of Chicago. He was an assistant professor of orthopaedics and the Chief of Sports medicine at SUNY-Stony Brook’s Department of Orthopaedics from 1988-1991. He has published numerous articles on such topics as articular cartilage and medial collateral ligament injuries, and has completed many hours of continuing medical education. Dr. Blyznak is a diplomate of the American Board of Orthopaedic Surgery and a Fellow of the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgery.
While Dr. Blyznak welcomes all types of orthopaedic patients to his general orthopaedic practice, he specializes in sports injuries and arthroscopic surgery (including knee meniscus repair, ACL reconstruction, rotator cuff problems, labrum tears, etc.). He also performs primary total hip and knee replacements (including the Gender Specific Knee designed especially for women), carpal tunnel release, fracture care and various other procedures.
Eric N. Dubrow, M.D.
Dr. Dubrow earned his medical degree from the Université Catholique de Louvain Faculté de Médecine in 1979 after completing his undergraduate education at Brooklyn College. His post-graduate training included a residency in surgery at Nassau County Medical Center and an orthopaedic surgery residency at SUNY at Stony Brook, where he was chief resident in his final year. Board certified by the American Board of Orthopaedic Surgery, Dr. Dubrow is an assistant clinical professor of orthopaedic surgery at SUNY - Stony Brook and the director of the Cerebral Palsy Clinic at St. Charles Hospital.
Dr. Dubrow specializes in Arthroscopy and Joint Replacement surgery. He is one of only a few physicians trained in the Birmingham hip resurfacing surgical technique.

Bryan T. Hanypsiak, M.D.
Dr. Hanypsiak earned his medical degree from SUNY Buffalo Medical School in 1998. After completing his internship and orthopedic surgery residency at George Washington University, where he was chief resident in his final year, Dr. Hanypsiak completed a sports medicine fellowship at The Cleveland Clinic in Ohio. While at the Cleveland Clinic, he served as an assistant to the team doctor for the city's professional sports teams, including the Cleveland Browns, Indians, Cavaliers, Barons and Rockers. He has published numerous articles in peer-reviewed journals and authored book chapters on surgical technique. His research has focused on long term outcomes following Anterior Cruciate Ligament (ACL) reconstruction and has been presented at the American Academy of Orthopedic Surgeons and at the Annual Meeting of the American Orthopedic Society for Sports Medicine. Dr. Hanypsiak has served as an instructor at a Masters Course in arthroscopic shoulder surgery and performed live surgery for shoulder instability which was broadcast to other surgeons to demonstrate his technique. He is Board Certified in Orthopedic surgery and a member of the American Academy of Orthopedic Surgeons.
Dr. Hanypsiak specializes in arthroscopic surgery of the shoulder, knee, hip, ankle and elbow. He is team physician for the Strong Island Sound a local professional basketball team.
Richard D. Hindes, M.D.
Dr. Hindes earned his undergraduate degree from Tulane University where he graduated magna cum laude with honors in biology. He graduated from the Tulane University School of Medicine in 1979 and completed his internship at Georgia Baptist Hospital. His orthopaedic residency was at SUNY - Stony Brook where he was chief resident in his last year. He currently holds an appointment as an assistant clinical professor in clinical orthopaedics at SUNY-Stony Brook. He is board certified by the American Board of Orthopaedic Surgeons.
Dr. Hindes served for eight years as the director of the department of orthopedic surgery at John T. Mather Hospital and has also served as the chairman of the medical board there. He is the recipient of the Theodore Roosevelt award for service at St. Charles Hospital.
Dr. Hindes area of specialty is joint replacement of the hip and knee and arthroscopic surgery of the knee. He utilizes the latest surgical techniques and implants. Examples are minimally invasive surgery (also known as MIS) and gender specific knee implants for women. He also provides care to a large number of patients with general orthopedic problems.
Jeffrey S. Muhlrad, M.D.
Dr. Muhlrad earned his medical degree from Boston University School of Medicine in 1975 after completing his undergraduate education at Pennsylvania State University. He completed his internship at St. Luke's Hospital, an affiliate of Columbia University in New York City, and his residency training in orthopedic surgery at Mt. Sinai Hospital, also in New York City. Dr. Muhlrad then went on to complete a fellowship year at University of Southern California (Rancho Los Amigos Hospital), in arthritis surgery and joint replacement, as well as in spinal injury. Dr. Muhlrad is a former Director of the Mather Hospital Wound Care Center, a former Director of St. Charles Hospital Scoliosis Clinic, the 1998 recipient of the Theodore Roosevelt Award for service, awarded by St. Charles Hospital, and Dr. Muhlrad has served on the credentials committee for Mather and St. Charles Hospital for many years, and has an appointment as Assistant Clinical Professor of Orthopedic Surgery at State University of New York at Stony Brook Department of Orthopedics. Dr. Muhlrad is both a fellow of the American Academy of Orthopedic Surgeons and Diplomat of the American Board of Orthopedic Surgery.
Dr. Muhlrad will be happy to see general orthopedic patients, however his area of specialty within orthopedics is adult hip and knee reconstruction. He offers the latest techniques in terms of arthroscopic surgical intervention, cartilage preserving procedures and minimally invasive open techniques for hip and knee replacement.
